"Clouds" Copyright©1997, Michael S. Robinson While bringin' this old herd on in, I'm thinkin' of each place I've been... The Great Salt Lake, I've seen it, Sir, and bought some bulls in Henefer.
I drove some cows to Price, one time, and loathed that Soldier's Summit climb. Koosharem's where I met my Wife, so, travelin' has improved my life.
But clouds are things I can't ignore, like hobos, knockin' at my door, who've ridden rails, everywhere, through busy towns and deserts bare...
And, though, to covet isn't right, world travel would be sheer delight. I watch the sky and prop my chin, and wonder were those clouds have been.
Could they have floated past Paree and seen them cancan girls for free, or climbed the Himalaya's crest, not even stopping once for rest?
Could they have spied Gibraltar's rock or checked the time on London's clock, or spotted camels, on the sands, while flying over Egypt's lands.
Though Draper is a right, fine place, and, rarely, I don't know a face, I envy clouds, until I'm green, for where they've been and what they've seen.
