Lovin’ the View

Copyright©2002, Michael Sorbonne Robinson

The wedding bells barely are silenced,

and the flowers are starting to wilt.

We've unwrapped all the blenders and toasters,

and Aunt Marybell's pillows and quilt.

We had wanted a better apartment,

and found one that we really adored,

but wound up in this window-less basement

'cause it was all we could afford.

Chorus:  Though our parents all gasped when they saw it,

and the paint is a hideous hue,

and we dream of a juicy steak dinner

as we dine on a beef-less beef stew

As long as your eyes are a- lookin' at me, Love,

and I'm lovingly lookin' at you,

Though there ain't any windows to gaze from,

we're both really lovin' the view.

But the struggle is part of the romance,

and it's heaven, just livin' on love,

so we've grown to appreciate mildew,

and the drip from the kitchen above.

When we're older and have lots of money

and a house that is comfy and bright,

we'll have one room that doesn't have windows,

where our best dreams can always take flight.
